Shaven or Unshaven: A Discussion for Today’s Man

The title of this piece may throw some of you off mainly because the question of shaven or unshaven usually pertains to how men prefer their women to be around their most intimate area.

I’m flipping the script on this as to the men taking the time to groom down their in what might be their most prized area.

Today’s world has brought us the metro sexual male, the male that takes extra care of himself not only in his manner of style of dress but by getting manicures, pedicures and spa treatments. I remember when the most men would do to treat themselves to a grooming experience was taking a trip to the barber shop and getting a fresh cut, a lining and if you really wanted to spoil yourself you got a shave with a straight razor, warm lather shaving cream and a hot towel afterwards.

Oh man that sounds good I think I have to go to the barber after I done writing this article.

Where were we? That’s right today’s man. Men now go all out it seems from reading about the latest in mens fashions to shopping sprees and even spa treatments. Really taking that extra step to look good. I decided to write this article upon hearing a conversation on a radio talk show about men now taking on the art of shaving their private area. The argument was that it did not seem like the manly thing to do and not to mention the most safest thing to do. Ouch! I guess I can see where you might want to keep it neat down there if just for hygiene reasons in itself. It can get pretty musty in those close and sometimes tight areas. Though there are some men prefer to go commando but it still can get pretty funky. Some guys are proud that they are working with a forest down there, they see it as a right of passage into manhood.

“Real men don’t shave”

Let’s take a look at some of today’s real men shall we?

You tell me yay or nay on these guys:

Jay Z, Drake, idris Alba, Lebron, Matthew McConaughey, Jack Nicholson, Robert Griffin (RG3), John Cena, Floyd Mayweather.

Now before you get all caught up in your male insecurities I’m not asking you to visualize it (although the ladies might not mind) I’m only asking you to say yes or no.

I would not be surprised if from this list most if not all shave.

What the motivation or benefit of shaving?

Some men probably do it for vanity and some do it for their partners sake.

There’s nothing like having your pleasure interrupted by gagging or spitting out hairs. Yikes!

There is also the benefit of feeling smooth, clean and having a nice neat package to deliver.

I mean if you expect your partner to perform certain favors it doesn’t hurt to have a nice clean area for them to work with. See ladies I’m looking out for you.

Pick your poison

Many men said they prefer to use some type of trimmer to do the deed out of fear that using a razor and one slip of the hand could cause major damage. Focus fellows because you really want to have full attention when shaving the sack area. Proceed with extreme caution.

I hear that some guys will go that extra, extra mile and with waxing.

I’m wincing just thinking about that one.

Now I know many women have made quite the sacrifice to have a clean presentation down there for their man or just for themselves so they might say to us men that are squeamish to about this act to as they say “Man Up”. I have to side with the men who say nah on this one I’ll just have to be considered a big baby on waxing- “oooh tell me when it’s over”!

Get closer

This might be something you can have your partner engage in as a way to create some intimacy between the two of you. You wash her hair she can shave around your penis area.

(I just wanted to work that word in somewhere).

You might also consider going to the spa together for a full service of treatments with

Waxing included. Yes it is a different time for us men in caring about our health and preserving our physical appearance.

Do you or don’t you?

I’m not sure what the percentages are for men that shave against those who don’t but let’s have it out right here shall we?

“Say it loud say it proud”.

I would like for men to chime in on this one and tell everyone which do they prefer?

I want to hear what the ladies have to say as well; let us men know which you prefer on a man shaven or unshaven?
